Job Description

Pure Freedom Sexual Risk Avoidance Educators travel to regional middle and high schools teaching 6 – 12th grade students about healthy relationship skills and sexual health. The educator works with teachers, administrators, counselors, nurses, and students to ensure that teens receive an optimal-health, primary-prevention education aimed at encouraging teens to choose healthy behaviors and avoid sexual risk. Pure Freedom is a program based on a community saturation model conducted in over 17 counties across Northeast Missouri. The candidate will be well organized, self-motivated, personable, and enjoy classroom presenting. They should enjoy working with pre-teen and teenage groups and have the ability to clearly and persuasively convey the program content. This position commitment requires at minimum two full academic years. This position is 40 hours weekly.

Qualifications of Position:

  • Experience working with youth in classroom or group settings
  • Degree in related field strongly preferred
  • Good knowledge of the Northeast Missouri area and its counties or willingness to learn
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva, & social media
  • Strong commitment to the SEXUAL RISK AVOIDANCE POSITION
  • A criminal background check prior to employment
  • A valid Missouri drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Comfort discussing sensitive topics with compassion
  • Self-motivation, drive, and ability to carry out responsibilities with little supervision
  • Interpersonal communication, public speaking, and problem-solving skills
  • A high level of confidentiality and professional integrity

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct classroom presentations as well as parent and community workshops
  • Plan and manage resources for presentations
  • Stay current on all curriculum updates, training, and research necessary to maintain quality teaching
  • Assist in program evaluation through the entry of program records
  • Participate in creating promotional and educational materials for Lifeline and the Pure Freedom program
  • Engage in public relations through the promotion of Lifeline in various events and public speaking opportunities

Training and Support:

  • On-the-job training and support will be provided
  • Sexual Risk Avoidance Specialist certification (will be provided)
  • REAL Essentials curriculum certification training (will be provided)
  • Annual topical trainings (will be provided)
  • Mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS reimbursement rate
