Meet Heather

Heather Newsome

Financial Assistant

Say hi to Heather, Lifeline team’s recent addition! Heather is serving as Financial Assistant, taking care of Lifeline’s account balances, expenditures, inventory, monitoring program budgets and much more. A job that she greatly enjoys: “Working here is an absolute joy. The staff is so welcoming, thoughtful, and caring!” Before joining us, Heather worked in many different fields, as a medical assistant and technician, preschool teacher, bookkeeper and office assistant. She’s also lived in different places, such as Topeka, KS, the city she is originally from, Heartland, MO, and Kirksville, MO, where she and her family decided to settle in five years ago. Needless to say, we are grateful to have her with us!

Why did you decide to work for Lifeline?

I lost my previous job due to the current pandemic of COVID-19 and a friend of mine messaged me to inform me about Lifeline’s job opportunity. I didn’t know very much about the clinic before joining the team, but now I am glad I applied and I just want to be available to help!

What do you like about your job?

I like that it feels more than just a job. I admire the effort and energy everyone is putting into caring for everyone else, including every person that calls or stops by the clinic. The staff is always ready to listen and help wherever and however they can. Additionally, I am thankful I have the opportunity to extend a hand to the women going through life struggles, whatever these may be. I myself went through difficult times in my life, grieving over the loss of not just one but five of my babies to miscarriage. I would like every woman I meet to know that they are not alone.

Tell us about your family!

I have been happily married for eleven years. I met my husband at Heartland, when both of us were working in the ministry that helps with adult recovery and youth programs. Together, we have had two amazing kids, whom I love very much. I am excited to raise them in the community.

What are your hobbies?

When I am not working, I always have fun singing, dancing, worshipping, as well as being creative with making jewelry, crafting and working on various DIY projects.

What are your goals?

My main goal is to live my life to the fullest, and not take one day or moment for granted. I intend to pass on a legacy to my children, to love God and others, knowing that although life may be difficult at times, He never abandons us.
